Tattoo Aftercare & Healing Guide

Your tattoo is a permanent work of art, but its long-term quality depends entirely on how you treat it during the first few weeks. Especially in the sunny and sandy environment of Hurghada, following these instructions is vital to preserve the sharp details of Ramy’s work.
Ramy Tattoo Second skin

The power of second skin

Ramy uses medical-grade Second Skin film to protect your new ink. This breathable, waterproof bandage acts as a barrier against bacteria and dirt, which is essential in the Egyptian climate.

  • How to wear it
Keep the Second Skin on for 24 hours, as specifically advised by Ramy for your design.
  • What to expect
It is normal for some fluid (ink and plasma) to build up under the film. This is part of the natural healing process.
  • Removal
Remove the film gently under lukewarm running water. Peel it back slowly, do not rip it off.

Immediate care
(After removing the film)

Once the film is off, your tattoo needs to be kept clean and hydrated.

  • Washing
Wash the area gently with your hands using lukewarm water and a mild, fragrance-free, antibacterial soap.
  • Drying
Pat the tattoo dry with a clean paper towel. Never rub the area with a cloth towel, as this can cause irritation or introduce bacteria.
  • Ointment
Apply a very thin layer of the recommended aftercare ointment (such as Bepanthen or a specific tattoo balm). The skin should look slightly hydrated, not greasy. Avoid Vaseline or scented body lotions.

The Hurghada “golden rules”:
Sun & sea

Because you are in a tropical holiday destination, you must take extra precautions.

Ramy Tattoo No sun

No direct sun (3-4 Weeks)

The Egyptian sun is extremely powerful. Keep your new tattoo completely covered and out of direct sunlight for the first month.

Ramy Tattoo No swimming

No swimming (2-3 Weeks)

Do not swim in the Red Sea or hotel swimming pools for at least 14 to 21 days. Saltwater and chlorine are harsh chemicals that can bleach the ink, cause infections, or lead to heavy scabbing. Even with Second Skin, full submersion is not recommended.

Note: Do not apply sunscreen to a fresh tattoo.
Only use high SPF (50+) once the tattoo is fully healed (after 3-4 weeks) to prevent fading.

What to avoid

Ramy Tattoo No scratching 1

Do not scratch or pick

As the tattoo heals, it may itch or flake. Picking at scabs will pull the ink out and leave gaps in your design.

Ramy Tattoo No tight clothes

No tight clothing

Wear loose, cotton clothing over the tattooed area to prevent friction and allow the skin to breathe.

Ramy Tattoo No sweating

Avoid heavy sweating

Skip the gym and saunas for the first week, as excessive sweat can irritate the wound.
